Konami explains MGS 4 delay

Konami has stressed the importance of its decision to delay Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, insisting the company is committed to producing a quality that is “warranted” of such a venerable franchise.

Speaking in a closed investors meeting today in Tokyo, Konami’s Chief Financial Officer, Noriaki Yamaguchi, commented how the firm is interested in “reaching more fans worldwide."

He highlighted the primary reason of the delay, claiming, "We [Konami] want to work on the quality that is warranted for a MGS title."

Yamaguchi also stated the company is "committed" to a first quarter release in Japan next year, which, given the fact the current financial year concludes March 31 2008, points towards a Japanese release anywhere between April and July next year.

In related news, Konami Australia issued a press release today, claiming that the earliest the game could hit PAL territories is June 2008.
