Rockstar: Grand Theft Auto V September release is not a ‘conspiracy’

Rockstar’s decision to push Grand Theft Auto V back to Sept. 17 is not, in fact, any kind of conspiracy. A Rockstar representative has made some comments on the new release window decision for what is sure to be a massive follow-up to GTA IV. That decision to release the game this fall is simply to provide gamers with the best experience.

That does not stop some from speculating that there is some conspiracy. Is Rockstar planning to release GTA V on next-gen consoles? Are there development struggles? Come up with your own ideas, but a Rockstar rep had this to say on its official site:

"To those of you saying or seeing various conspiracy theories about there being some other ulterior motive for this delay, rest assured that they’re all nonsense – literally the only reason we’ve delayed the release is because we want the game to be as good as it needs to be."

Box art is expected "a bit later," for those wondering.

A few days ago this is what Rockstar had to say:

"Today, we have an official release date to share with you: Grand Theft Auto V will arrive in stores on September 17, 2013.

We know this is about four months later than originally planned and we know that this short delay will come as a disappointment to many of you, but, trust us, it will be worth the extra time. GTAV is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.

To all Grand Theft Auto fans, please accept our apologies for the delay, and our promise that the entire team here is working very hard to make the game all it can be. We are doing all we can to help ensure it will meet if not exceed your expectations come September – we thank you for your support and patience.

Yours,
The GTA Team"
