Uncharted 3 multiplayer is now free-to-play

Naughty Dog announced today that the multiplayer mode of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is now free-to-play.

The catch is you are aren’t able to rank up past level 15, but still allowed to play "as long as you want, as much as you want." The game will still keep track of any experience gained past level 15, so in the event you unlock the full game, all the experience points will be credited to your account. The full version of Uncharted 3 Game of the Year Edition is available for digital download from the PlayStation Network for $39.99 and includes the following:

For loyal, long-time Uncharted 3 players, Naughty Dog will be giving a custom Naughty Dog Paw rank icon and a Naughty Dog Paw shirt for custom characters. Color options for character items and skins have been expanded as well.

Hopefully, this is an indicator of Sony’s openness to new business models, like free-to-play, for games. Maybe we’ll see a lot more varied pricing for PlayStation 4 games, like Sony has mentioned.

If you don’t own Uncharted 3, are you interested in trying the F2P multiplayer? Would you like to see more games provide F2P components? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned to PSU!
