New Batman: Arkham Origins details surface

Fresh details on Batman: Arkham Origins, the next chapter in the ‘Arkham’ series currently in development at Warner Bros. Montreal, have surfaced via Game Informer.

First off, GI has confirmed that the Caped Crusader will be facing off against villain Black Mask in the game. The Gotham City mob boss is one of the most feared of his kind and harbours an intense hatred for Bats.

Origins takes place on Christmas Eve, where Black Mask has called for a city-wide manhunt of Batman. Here, he must face off against eights assassins, as well as battle supervillains including Deathstroke and The Penguin.

The game world will be roughly twice the size of Arkham City’s already-sprawling environment, with the Northern area being largely similar to its previous game counterpart. However, the southern district houses New Gotham, home to the upper class and towering skyscrapers.

Batman’s trademark gadgets will also make a return. New to the able this time around however is the Remote Claw, letting gamers shoot two targets and bring them together. In addition, the device can be used to set traps for your opponents.

Detective antics will return too, with the Dark Knight taking part in various side missions requiring players to observe surveillance footage to collect intelligence from multiple angels.

Batman: Arkham Origins will be released for PlayStation 3, PC, Wii U and Xbox 360 worldwide on October 25.
