Street Fighter V rumors shot down by Capcom

Street Fighter legend Yoshinori Ono has poured cold water over rumors that Capcom is secretly chiselling away on Street Fighter V for next-generations systems.

Writing on Twitter, fan-favourite Ono-san confirmed that he sadly doesn’t have the necessary budget to get the project off the ground at present.

“I don’t have R&D budget and staff who they’re just only make USF4,” said Ono-san.

USF4 of course refers to the latest iteration of Street Fighter IV, Ultra Street Fighter IV, due out on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 in 2014. The update features new characters, stages and costume DLC and will be released as a boxed game and digital update to existing SFIV owners.

Are you disappointed that Street Fighter V isn’t in the works? Do you think Capcom is pushing it too far by releasing yet another version of SFIV? Sound off in the comments section below.
