Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number, announced for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita at Gamescom by the king of indies, Shahid Ahmad, is going to have an extra difficulty so masochists everywhere can rejoice by wearing various animal masks and hitting people with blunt objects.*
Speaking to Polygon, one half of Dennaton Games, Dennis Wedin, said that Hard mode has been added because of complaints that the first game was too easy. He says that he wanted to give fans ‘something more’ with the sequel. Hard mode has yet to be implemented into the game so the changes that it will bring have not yet been finalised.
Characters were another topic brought up in the interview, and Hotline Miami 2 will have characters that are ‘less bland’ than in the first game. Wedin explained that ‘We’re trying to give them more personality so players can get to know them a bit more. In the first game you only had Jacket, and we made him pretty blank. But for this game, if we made all the characters just blank, the player would feel the same way about all of them. We want them to be different — some you will agree more with, or won’t agree with, or maybe won’t understand their motivations or agenda.’
Hotline Miami 2 is calling PS4 and PS Vita next year.
