A Redditor and PAX attendee is reporting that the DualShock 4 will work as a native PC gamepad when connected to your computer via USB.
Other details are vague, though this comes from a Galak-Z dev who confirmed the information on the show floor. Numerous PS4 demos at conventions like E3 and gamescom were allegedly running on PC hardware with a DualShock 4 connected for play. It’s currently unknown whether a connected DualShock 4 will perform as a DirectInput device or an Xinput device. We also don’t know, at this point, if Bluetooth input will be supported; more than likely, you’ll have to connect via USB first and establish a Bluetooth connection with third-party drivers.

This is great news for PlayStation fans who might also happen to play the occasional PC game (I’m looking at myself on this one). Setting up a DualShock 3 to work with PC is a nightmare for the non-tech-savvy crowd, whereas Xbox 360 controllers are more or less plug-and-play. Here’s hoping that Sony releases a small controller utility for your computer that can recognize a plugged-in DualShock 4 and support easy Bluetooth functionality. I’ll never play The Witcher 2 or Guild Wars 2 with a mouse and keyboard again.
