Shuhei Yoshida, president of Sony Worldwide Studios, has suggested gamers ‘stay tuned’ for news pertaining to a western release of PlayStation Vita TV.
Writing on Twitter, Yoshida-san commented, “For people wondering about PS Vita TV outside Japan, we are just saying how ‘PS Vita TV releasing first in Japan.’ Stay tuned.”
Sony announced PS Vita TV during a pre-TGS press conference on Monday. As it stands, the device is due for a wider Asian release, though no plans for a western launch have been confirmed as of yet.
For those who don’t know, PS Vita TV allows you to connect to your telly to play PS Vita titles, thanks to the inclusion of a game cartridge and memory card slot. In addition, you can also take advantage of streaming services such as Hulu and Niconico.
Due for release in Japan on November 14, 2013, PS Vita TV also has the potential to play PlayStation 3 titles via cloud-based streaming, and will be patched to include support for the DualShock 4 at a later date.
