Speaking during an interview with Sydney Morning Herald, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s Ashraf Ismail said that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the pirate-themed adventure game offers the richest experience possible.
Quizzed if there are any major differences between the current and next-generation editions of Black Flag, Ismail replied:
"Oh no, the core experience is the same across all platforms," adding, "but the next-gen consoles will give players a much richer and more alive world. Obviously there will be a big visual upgrade, but, for example, the next-gen versions have fully dynamic foliage that reacts to the wind and rain and bends when a character runs into it. The current-gen versions don’t have that because the physics simulation was just too taxing."
"That said, the current-gen versions really are the best-looking Assassin’s Creed games we’ve made on this generation of hardware."
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag takes place in the Golden Age of Piracy in the early 1700s. Players control Edward Kenway, a pirate-turned-assassin, as they plunder their way across the Caribbean on board the Jackdaw and wage naval warfare against fellow pirates.
Ubisoft recently confirmed details on the game’s Season Pass, which includes a hefty dose of single-player content starring Kenway’s first mate.
Black Flag is due out on PlayStation 3, PC, Xbox 360 and Wii U in North America on October 29 and in Europe on November 1.
The PlayStation 4 version launches on November 15 in the U.S. and the U.K. and Europe on November 29.
