New flash sale for PS4, PS3, PS Vita games

For North American gamers, Sony today announced via the PS.Blog another Flash Sale, beginning immediately and running through Friday, January 31 at 6 p.m. Pacific time.

The lineup comprises 9 individual titles for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita, some of them quite recent. Gamers can now buy Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag or its Gold edition (for PS3 only), Gran Turismo 6, Madden NFL 25, Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition (for PS3, PS4, and PS Vita) Killzone: Shadow Fall, Knack, Super Motherload (Cross-buy between PS3 and PS4), Contrast (for PS3 or PS4), and FIFA 13 for Vita.

Gamers who missed these games when they first released or have them listed low on the “must buy” list and want an opportunity to play them have a golden one here. All that may disappoint gamers is the lack of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for PS4, made very noticeable by the presence of multiple versions of Injustice: Gods Among Us, Super Motherload, and Contrast.

Killzone: Shadow Fall and Knack served as PlayStation’s flagship games at PS4’s November launch, though two of its other anticipated launch titles had been delayed. In addition, the launch of Gran Turismo 6 just last month saw high publicity around the world. These are games just barely removed from the A-list, and a few of them still remain there in anticipation of games such as inFAMOUS: Second Son, DRIVECLUB, and WATCH_DOGS.

This flash sale is just over a month removed from the holiday flash sale of December 20, where games from Tearaway to Batman Arkham Origins to Lego Marvel Superheroes saw steep discounts. If this is a habit that Sony is trying to form in addition to all the impressive free games available to PlayStation Plus members, “PlayStation user” just became a more prestigious title than it already was.

Do you think something else should be included in the bundle? Do you just love what’s already there? What if Sony makes a flash sale every month? Talk to us in the comments below.
