The launch of the PlayStation 4 has caused PlayStation Plus subscriptions to triple, Sony has revealed.
Fergal Gara, head of Sony Computer Entertainment U.K., confirmed the news during a press conference this week regarding the launch of the PlayStation Vita Slim in the country.
Of course, Sony now requires that gamers pay to play online for the PS4 via PS Plus, so the rise shouldn’t be all that surprising. Still, it’s an impressive result nonetheless, and PS Plus offers more than enough incentive for gamers to drop their cash on a membership.

Huge step up in PS+ subscriptions. Yes, partly down to online play requirement, but also down to value. pic.twitter.com/L93xh9bBSV
