The 2013 Gamemaker Game of the Year winner Savant:Ascent is coming to the PlayStation 4. Announced on the PlayStation Blog, Savant-Ascent is a platform shooter that at first glance has some environments that will instantly make you think it is a Castlevania variation.
According to developer D-Pad Studio, the story line revolves around "A malicious orb [that] has cast Savant out of his tower and transformed his surroundings into dangerous enemies."
As Savant, you must fight your way to the top of your tower, unlocking new abilities and custom music that inspired the game. Savant-Ascent has made the rounds on Steam, Google Play, the App Store, and just about any other place you can think of, but the PS4 will be the home for its console debut. Neither a release date nor any details of a PlayStation Vita version have been revealed.
So even though Sony consoles is becoming a nice revenue stream for indie developers, would Savant-Ascent be a good edition to the limited PS4 library? It does give developers more exposure, but do you think you’d be likely to continue developing for consoles as they generate new titles? Let us know what you think.
