Sony’s Project Morpheus will be ‘affordable’

Project Morpheus, Sony’s upcoming VR headset, is to be positioned at an ‘affordable’ price on the market, the console maker said this week.

Speaking during its Driving the Future of Innovation keynote speech at GDC this week (via VRfocus), Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios (SCE WWS), indicated the device won’t come with a hefty price tag.

“One of the great things about something being consumer electronics…is that it’s affordable,” said Yoshida-san, in response to the possible application of its VR headset in schools.

Sony has yet to announce a price point or release date for Project Morpheus. Stay tuned for more GDC coverage at PSU.com in the coming days.
