Metal Gear mastermind Hideo Kojima has shed light on some of the challenges Snake will face in the forthcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
Speaking during an interview with 4Gamer, Kojima-san likened Snake’s transition to Big Boss to that of Walter White from the hit show, Breaking Bad — a character who can be interpreted as a hero or villain.
Snake himself will undergo “serious psychological damage” during the events of the upcoming stealth-action title, which act as the catalyst for him going down a much darker path.
The Phantom Pain is the successor to Ground Zeroes, which was released last month for current and next-generation formats.
A release date for the project has yet to be announced, though Kojima-san has revealed that the game will over 200 times bigger than Ground Zeroes.
