Fans petitioning for a third instalment in the Resident Evil Outbreak franchise have announced that the initiative has drummed up 10,000 signatures.
The petition kicked off in 2007, and has attracted legions of fans who saw great promise in Capcom’s underrated online survival horror title, which originally released on the PlayStation 2 a decade ago.
Despite its loyal following, Capcom has yet to revisit the series since the sequel, Resident Evil Outbreak: File 2, which hit stores in western regions in 2006.
The Resident Evil spin-off takes place during the 1998 T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City, running parallel with the events of Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 3: Nemesis. Gamers teamed up as everyday survivors, including a police officer, journalist, doctor, and waitress, as they battled zombies and other bio-weapons in an attempt to escape the city alive.
More recently, fans have managed to bring the original Japanese Outbreak and its follow-up back online after Capcom closed the western servers a few years back.
