UPDATE: Ono has confirmed on his Twitter that only his role at Capcom Vancouver has ended. He also stated his position at Capcom itself is unchanged and is still working on his current projects. -- Ernest Lin, Sr. Editor
Street Fighter head honcho and Capcom Vancouver director, Yoshinori Ono, has resigned from his position with the firm.
Ono-san announced his resignation on Twitter, commenting, "I resigned from the director position about CAPCOM Vancouver. Thanks good staff of CAPCOM Vancouver, and Dead Rising staff!"
Known to millions of gamers worldwide for his exuberance in interviews and tireless work ethic, Ono-san was the public face of Street Fighter IV and its many incarnations over the past few years.
In fact, his relentless PR tour of the crossover beat-’em-up title, Street Fighter x Tekken, resulted in a brief spell in hospital in early 2012. As a result, he was forced to take a step back from the limelight.
At this point it is unknown if Ono-san has left Capcom as a whole or will continue to work with the Japanese giant in another capacity.
