Bandai Namco consider localizing Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth if 50,000 sign petition

According to Bandai Namco’s European community manager Isshak Gravi, the Japanese games company will consider bringing the upcoming PlayStation Vita game Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth to the West if the Operation Decode fan petition reaches 50,000 signatures.

Responding on Twitter, Gravi clarified, “just remember this is not automatic, this is NOT "confirmed". But >50k is a good way to START a discussion.”

Gravi emphasized localizing a Digimon game outside Japan would be financially tough to justify due to the franchise’s decline in the West. “That’s your best bet fans, to try and START a discussion. Digimon isn’t what it used to be&a 3DS/Vita JRPG is not the easiest to bring over.”

Operation Decode started back in July 2013 on popular petition website Change.org, It was originally created to show fan support for localizing the Nintendo 3DS game Digimon World Re:Digitize Decode, an enhance port of the PlayStation Portable game Digimon World Re:Digitize. Since then, Operation Decode has come to campaign for the localization of Digimon games in general.

Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth is a role-playing game in which the player travels between the real world and the Digital World to solve mysteries occurring in both worlds. Character designs are drawn by Suzuhito Yasuda, best known for his work on Durarara!! and the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor series. The game is a PS Vita exclusive and slated for release in Japan sometime in 2015.
