Uncharted 4 story will be ‘more personal,’ says Naughty Dog

The developer behind Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End has said that the storyline for its hotly anticipated PlayStation 4 project will take on a more ‘personal’ angle.

Speaking to MCV (via OnlySP), Neil Druckmann reiterated that Nathan Drake’s latest globe-trotting sequel won’t adopt a darker tone similar to The Last of Us. Instead, he promised we’ll delve deeper into finding out what makes him tick as a character.

“We’ve learned a lot about how we tell stories through interactivity with The Last of Us and there are lessons that we’re applying to Uncharted 4. It’s about finding that right balance for Uncharted – it’s definitely not going to be The Last of Us. But we are trying to make it more personal this time and see how much we can delve into who Nathan Drake really is, and what kind of effect this journey has on him and the people around him.”

Uncharted 4 will be released for PS4 in 2015, and features Drake on the trail of a legendary pirate treasure. The game has been in the works for over two years.

Naughty Dog previously commented that it is ‘extremely happy’ with Sony’s latest home console, stating it has opened up many doors for the studio.
