Just Cause 3 dev: ‘going to look spectacular’, cites ‘huge, epic explosions’

Following on from the reveal of the first debut trailer for Just Cause 3, games director Roland Lesterlin believes that fans are going to be very pleased with the game’s visuals.

Though he hasn’t talked about frame-rates yet, he has said that the game will boast the ‘most optimized experience possible’ and that it’s going to ‘look spectacular’.

The quotes come from an interview with Red Bull, in which Lesterlin says they’re not setting any targets right now for frame-rate, but that we can expect explosions of the epic kind.

“Of course Just Cause is known for destruction and beautiful explosions, so we wanted to make sure we were really getting out in front of that one,” he said. “Thanks to our relationship with Havok [the developer of a leading game physics engine], which has been amazing over the years, we’ve been able to really push our destruction to another level there and really push huge, epic explosions.”

The Just Cause series has become well known for its sandbox environment and it looks like Just Cause 3 will be no different. “How do you build the best Just Cause 3 console experience that we can? Lesterlin asked himself. “ I think there’s some great lessons to be learned there and we want to encourage the modding community as much as possible. But Just Cause is a sandbox, it’s your sandbox," he enthused.

Various sources confirm that, despite prior rumors, the open-world action sequel won’t incorporate microtransaction, nor will it be free-to-play. Just Cause 3 is also single-player only (at least for the time being), so don’t expect any multiplayer action.

Since the annoucement of Just Cause 3, we’ve been treated to some luscious screenshots and details on the story and environments. Just Cause 3 has a release window of Holiday 2015 on PS4 and Xbox One.
