Rock Band 4 dev says PS4 ‘supports our online ambition, allows exciting lighting and atmospherics’

Speaking during an interview with OPM UK, Daniel Sussman, Product Manager Manager for Harmonix, revealed some of the advantages that PlayStation 4 offers in regards to the studio’s upcoming Rock Band 4.

Quizzed by the magazine what Sony’s latest home console has allowed Harmonix to achieve in comparison to its predecessor, Sussman replied:

A lot of our effort is focused on the online infrastructure—not for gameplay, but for music delivery. There are also a lot of social elements to PS4 that support our ambition to connect people through music, and some exciting opportunities with respect to lighting and atmospherics that our engine folks and artists are excited to take advantage of."

Rock Band 4 is due out later this year for PS4 and Xbox One, and will feature a back-to-basics approach, featuring the four core components only: vocals, guitar, bass, and drums.
