PS4 hacked in Brazil with some stores installing pirated games on consoles

Gamers in Brazil have reportedly found a way to hack the PS4, allowing them to clone various software for Sony’s latest home console.

This method means hackers are able to take games from an activated PS4 and have them up and running on another console. Reports claim this utilizes a Raspberry Pi to clone the host PS4’s NAND, and differs from well-known account sharing exploit.

The whole process results in a PS4 having two activated primary accounts, with the ability to then play pirated software.

As a result of the hacking, unscrupulous Brazlian shop-keepers are now flogging punters the chance to have ten PS4 games installed for R $300 – R $400, which is roughly $100-$150 USD—far cheaper than the $600 you would normally have to fork out for.

Sony has caught wind of these activities and has since offered cease and desist letters to those involved in the hacking.
