Sony Computer Entertainment announced today that it’s latest home console, the PlayStation 3, has sold over one million units in the UK since its launch in March 2007.
By contrast, its predecessor, the PlayStation 2, took 50 weeks to reach the same number after going on sale in the region in November 2000.
Nintendo’s Wii took 38 weeks to reach the one million mark, while Microsoft’s Xbox 360 took 60 weeks.
The PS3 currently retails for around GBP 299.99 in the UK for the 40GB machine, with Sony phasing out the 60GB model last year.
