Naughty Dog teases Uncharted 4 multiplayer beta: ‘fast, fluid, fun’

It’s Crunch Time at Naughty Dog as the renowned California-based developer is working tirelessly around the clock to ensure the upcoming Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End multiplayer beta is delivered on schedule early next month.

The studio shared a number of updates on Twitter (via GearNuke) confirming that the multiplayer beta is progressing smoothly ahead of its launch in December. Access to the beta was given away as part of the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, released on PlayStation 4 in October.

Uncharted 4’s multiplayer was officially unveiled during Paris Games Week, where Naughty Dog confirmed a slew of new content for the action-packed online mode. Among the new additions to the multiplayer include the ability to call on AI-controlled teammates to aid you in battle, as well as the option to utilize some of the series’ more supernatural-based elements, including the treasure of El Dorado, to attack enemies. The multiplayer has been confirmed by Naughty Dog to run at 900p/60fps.

Uncharted 4 is due out on March 18, 2016. The game has been confirmed by its creator to be the final chapter in Nathan Drake’s story, and is very likely to be Naughty Dog’s final Uncharted game. Taking place a few years after the events of Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, the action-adventure sequel sees Drake and Sully on the hunt for a legendary pirate’s treasure, with the duo also joined by Drake’s long-lost brother, Sam. Uncharted 4 will also be the first title in the series to receive single-player DLC, although right now Naughty Dog hasn’t decided just what it’s going to do with the content.
