The file size for the PlayStation 4 version of Tom Clancy’s The Division has been confirmed ahead of the RPG-shooter’s release in early March.
According to the chaps at GearSiege, who were able to acquire some shots of the final game box art, the PS4 version will weigh in at approximately 40GB. The image also confirms that a total of 24 players will be able to participate in the game’s Dark Zone at any one time.
Elsewhere, folk on Reddit have been digging around and believe that The Division’s map size will be roughly six times as large as the map offered in the recent beta test. For reference, this puts the game in the same playing field as the likes of Grand Theft Auto V and Fallout 4.
Developed by Ubisoft Massive in conjunction with the industry giant’s Annecy and Reflections studios, The Division takes place in New York City, U.S., following the outbreak of a mysterious diseases on Black Friday. In just five days, the government collapses as the pandemic spreads, with supplies such as food and water cut off to survivors, resulting in widespread chaos.
Players form part of the Strategic Homeland Division (SHD), a specialised group who live seemingly ordinary lives but are given authority by the United States government to combat various threats caused by the disease, and help to get society back on its feet by whatever means necessary.
Ubisoft has said that the game’s Snowdrop Engine is squeezing plenty of juice out of Sony and Microsoft’s current-generation formats, and that trading may appear in the game at some point down the line.
