Marvel Heroes dev shuts down, lays off all staff without pay

Marvel Heroes developer Gazillion Entertainment reportedly closed its doors yesterday, laying off all staff on Thanksgiving Eve.

As a result of the studio’s closure, Marvel Heroes will now be shuttered on Friday; the game was originally set to wrap up next month.

Numerous ex-employees have since taken to social media to confirm Gazillion’s closure, which arrives not long after Disney announced its intention to “end its relationship” with the company.

“We regret to inform our Marvel Heroes fans that we have ended our relationship with Gazillion Entertainment, and that the Marvel Heroes games will be shut down. We would like to sincerely thank the players who joined the Marvel Heroes community, and will provide any further updates as they become available,” said the company at the time.

In addition, former staff members are also claiming that they are not receiving severance pay or PTO, and that their medical insurance will cease as early as next week.

Naturally, the announcement that Marvel Heroes would be shuttering didn’t sit well with those who have invested in the title.

Fans last week across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One began the process of asking for refunds for the money they had spent on Marvel Heroes Omega, which only launched for home consoles back in June 2017.
