Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment confirmed today that the publisher has acquired the rights to the F.E.A.R. name, and has subsequently re-titled its upcoming FPS Project Origin as F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
The game focuses on the efforts of a Special Forces squad dispatched to the city of Auburn, where they must combat a variety of supernatural foes as they attempt to put a stop to a vengeful and powerful young girl named Alma.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment Senior Vice President of Production and Development, Samantha Ryan, commented, "The name addition builds upon the strong game recognition, which we will extend as we move forward reinventing the F.E.A.R. brand.”
"F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin will continue the legacy of the original F.E.A.R. game with story and combat while adding new twists, gameplay and graphics to expand the players’ experience."
F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin is due for release on PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 on February 13, 2009.
