Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter has peered into his crystal ball ahead of Thursday’s NPD hardware figures for March 2009, forecasting a substantial rise in the number of PlayStation 3’s sold compared to the previous month.
Pachter reckons Sony’s flagship console is poised to narrow the gap between itself and the Xbox 360, which outsold PS3 in the U.S. back in February by a considerable margin. In terms of actual numbers, the analyst predicted the following sales figures for March: Wii [800,000] Xbox 360 [400,00] PS3 [350,000]
Said Pachter: “Our console sell-through forecasts reflect our belief supply and demand for Wii hardware are finally in balance, with most of the upside in unit sales attributable to growing demand for the Xbox 360 and PS3.”
Stay tuned for full NPD figures later this week.
