Registered just to post this: I AM MAD... waited several months and held off on getting a PS3 so that I could get the DualShock 3 controller now they are telling us the standard MGS$ 80 gig version won't have the dual shock 3. I am mad... All this time, I have been reading otherwise...

It's not an 80GB?  IT'S NOT AN 80GB?! Jesus.  I'm getting a new 360 to fill in the gaming gaps this PS3 has created with Sony's out-of-touch BS.  I adopted early (then my 60GB was stolen and I had to get a 40GB).  I knew I wanted another PS3 with BC, so I waited, waited and waited...for this.  These guys have just lost touch...and that PRICE! Have they learned NOTHING?  No matter what your selling, YOU CAN'T EXPECT MASS ADOPTION AT THAT PRICE.  My god they're GIVING fuel to the competition.  Idiots!  I am just floored.  <<shakes head in disbelief>>.

Odium, your a moron, I don't know if you noticed or not, but you have to special order it from Konami, NOT SONY!!!!! I also hate to tell you this, but I highly doubt that they will not sell out this bundle at $600. I am so tired of people complaining about this BS. Now Barca you have a point, I don't know if I would be "Mad" about it, but it is kind of dumb that they are not including the DS3 controller??????

Why is everyone going crazy over this?  What's the big deal about picking up a normal PS3 and then MGS4 seperately?  You want a gunmetal colored PS3, then pick up a can of spray paint and go at it.  You don't even have to paint the PS3, just get a cool looking pastic container, cut some holes in it, paint it any color you want, and place it over the PS3.   No girl is going to come over at your house, look at your gunmetal PS3 and say, "OMG, YOU'RE SO COOL, TAKE ME NOW!!!"  If they do, they're probably only after your country's nuclear secrets.  Sony probably would sell more systems if they had a more variety of colored PS3s and get this backward compatability thing sorted out though.   I think the issues with backwards compatability, the lack of playing your own music in games, and the delay on releasing Home is really making them look bad, and they should work on getting those worked out above everything else.

wtf? I thought there was a 500 dollar package with an 80gb PS3 and a copy of MGS.

I'll be severely dissappointed if there isn't, as that was the PS3 I was planning on buying.

@ woflhawk... I am mad because I had money saved up to buy it in late last year... i was for sure gonna buy it in January but when I heard MGS4 bundle with DS3, I thought i might as well wait since eventually i'd have to get a DS3 controller anyway to take full advantage of newer games... I am mad because I could've been enjoying a PS3 for all this time if i had not waited for the MGS4 bundel with DS3 that now appears to be a fantasy

I have been waiting for ever and they give me this! wtf!!! oooooo it has a sweet paint job... its just a FU@#@#@ NORMAL GRAY ps3! what happened to the 80gb!?!?! I would have been fine with paying a hundred dollars more than what was rumored for an 80gb, but it's just a 40! Sony your whack you forgot about the real gamers!!! nobody in their right mind is going to pay this much for a 40gb

Surely you guys aren't complaining about the size of the PS3. Just last week I upgraded my brothers PS3 from 20GB to 160GB. Took less than 20 minutes with all his data installed from his old hard drive. Guess what! It only cost $50 for the hard drive. Less than a new game. If its backward compatibility you want if you waited this long to get a PS3 then just keep your old PS2. The only option you have is to get a 360 but then you will be pisses when they release their new version this year after E3 (just what I think), and you really won't be able to play your old PS2 games. Just some food for thought.

Wow, I am amazed at almost all the comments above! I agree that PSu should have worded it better but they state that the other bundle will not include the gun metal PS3 or DS3. (aka the gun metal DS3, not the normal one)

As for the price, it's a limited addition, they're all gonna sell even at $600. If you don't like it buy a cheaper model. And it is most likely a 40Gb PS3 as that's what the Japanese are getting, and these are probably just repackaged Japanese models.

And as zhino87 said, it says on the website that the 80Gb bundel will come with a DS3 and a price of $500.

wow, what so hard to understand. There's going to be 2 bundle coming out, 1 in-store, thats the 80 gig with 1 DS3 n the game for $499. The second in online limited edition gun metal pre-order only from konami, with a 40 gig, 1 DS3 and limited edition of MGS for $599. we are lucky, in japan they have 5 MGS bundles, 4 40 gig models and a 80 gig. 40's ( gun metal, black, white and silver ) all with a DS3, plus you get an extra sixaxis with the bundle for free. also a regular black 80 gig.

The regular MGS4 bundle does come with a DS3 Controler check the website. now if the site is wrong, then thats really bad on sony, hope this helps

Some of the people above like Barca The Great and Odium_Generis_Humani don't know ANYTHING about the 80GB PS3 MGS4 Bundle that will retail for $499 and it will have the Dualshock 3 controller. If you look on the front of the 80GB PS3 MGS4 box, you will see the Dualshock 3 controller Icon. Stop whining and complaining about it.  And go ahead Odium and get a 360. When it Red Rings on you you'll be wishing you didn't waste your money and what's the use of getting a 360 when around 90% of the 360's games end up on the PC.

This Limited Edition MGS4 bundle also has the words "Metal Gear Solid 4" engraved on the PS3 console, and it's a very Limited Edition and it should sell for more money. If you guys think that $599.99 is high, just wait and see how much they will be selling for on Ebay. I bet that the bidding on them will reach the $1000 dollar mark easily.

I have to admit that for the price it should be the 80GB PS3 model, but it's a Limited Edition, so what else is there to say. Limited Edition merchandise ALWAYS sells for more money.

Kojima and Konami came up with this bundle for the Die-hard Metal Gear fans and Die-hard Playstation fans and they aren't catering to every gamer. There will be people buying this bundle just to have as a Collectable Item and the Japanese Gunmetal PS3 MGS4 bundle had sold out on the Japanese Konami Store and anybody that thinks that it wont be selling is WRONG.

Summarizing up:

The Metal Gear Solid Limited Edition Bundle (40gb, gray or platinum, with Metal gear solid engraved, etc etc) will be "EXCLUSIVELY AVAILABLE AT KONAMI'S WEBSITE.

in the other hand, The normal Metal Gear Solid bundle, 80gb, black etc etc will be made up by SONY and will be availabe at RETAIL STORES.

I will loev to have the Limited Edition but Probably when  go and prorder it they will already be gone xD

it sucks that the limited edition is a 40gb, otherwise i'd, at least, try to get me one of those bad babies but i rather have some sort of backward compatibility, multimedia card reader and 4 usb ports.

and yes, the new 80gb bundle does come with mgs4, a ds3 and a code to download a game from ps store.

Well it's obvious PSU got their information wrong. But does this mean the 80GB SKU will be selling as a stand alone console once again, or just as this bundle.
