COD4 biggest game on PS3, new marketing push planned

Publisher Activision is set to introduce a new marketing initiative for its critically acclaimed title, Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, following news from Chart Track that the shooter has become the biggest selling game on PlayStation 3.

The company announced this week that the title would receive new online promotions in The Sun, SkySports, FHM, Kerrang and MSN Network, in addition to revealing the opportunity for gamers to compete in a Boot Camp event, where fans can compete for prizes and test out brand new multiplayer maps.

David Tyler, Managing Director for Activision, commented, “Call of Duty is now one of the largest video game franchises worldwide, and this has been achieved by combining a truly groundbreaking game with creative marketing campaigns that reach out to casual gamers as well as to core FPS players.”

“A whole programme of Call of Duty 4 related activities are in place for spring and summer,” added Tyler.

“The Boot Camp event and refreshed marketing campaign are two examples of our ongoing commitment to this astonishing game.”

New downloadable content for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of the game is planned for release at the beginning of April.
