2K Games has revealed that BioShock: Infinite will be released in North America on October 16, with a European launch pencilled in for October 19.
Developed by Irrational Games, BioShock: Infinite takes place in the airborne city of Columbia in 1912, with players assuming the role of agent Booker DeWitt as he attempts to rescue a young woman named Elizabeth.
Series creator Ken Levine commented: "After BioShock, we had a vision for a follow up that dwarfed the original in scope and ambition.”
"BioShock Infinite has been our sole focus for the last four years, and we can’t wait for fans to get their hands on it."
