Capcom confirms that Street Fighter X Tekken DLC is on-disc

Following recent allegations over the weekend that Street Fighter X Tekken contains extra downloadable content hidden on the disc, Capcom has issued an official statement via Capcom-Unity.

As it turns out, yes, Capcom did intentionally include content that will be released – for a price – in the future on retail copies of Street Fighter X Tekken. This is not the first time the Japanese fighting game giant has been accused of this, as this news echoes tales from years ago about Street Fighter 4 and Resident Evil 5; both games had paid DLC locked away on the disc.

Fans have spoken out expressing their dismay, however, Capcom assures fans that there were reasons behind the decision.

By including these 12 characters on the disc, the idea was to ensure easy compatability between players who do and do not choose to download the characters when they arrive as DLC.

The update also saves on file size – instead of a massive download, there will be a much smaller unlock that brings the new content to the surface.

What do you think? Is Capcom trying to double-dip, or was this decision made to better fighting games fans in the long run?
