Bethesda has offered clarification regarding platforms for the upcoming Doom beta, confirming it will only be available for PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One.
The public beta for the long-delayed shooter is being given away with pre-orders for Wolfenstein: The New Order.
However, as it is limited to next-generation consoles, PS3 customers who pre-order The New Order will be given access to the PS4 beta. Likewise, Xbox 360 gamers will gain access to the beta for Xbox One.
"DOOM beta access correlates to your pre-ordered Wolfenstein: The New Order platform," Bethesda wrote on the game’s official website. "If you purchase an Xbox 360 or Xbox One version of Wolfenstein: The New Order, you will receive an invitation to the Xbox One DOOM beta. PlayStation 3 or PlayStation 4 purchasers will receive an invite to the PS4 DOOM beta. All PC purchases will receive an invite to the PC DOOM beta.
"The DOOM Beta will only be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC."
Not much is known about Doom at present, and it remains unknown when the game will actually see the ilght of day. The game was previously in development as Doom 4, but work restarted back in 2011 and the project was renamed.
Wolfenstein isn’t too far off though, launching on May 20.
