EEDAR analyst Jesse Divnich reckons Grand Theft Auto V will become the biggest selling videogame of 2012.
Speaking to IndustryGamers, Divnich feels the Rockstar crime sequel will successfully trump Call of Duty as the year’s biggest release, though still feels the latter will generate massive numbers regardless.
“It goes without saying that GTA V will be one of the year’s biggest releases, but I will take it one step farther and say GTA V will be 2012′s biggest release,” said Divnich.
“Don’t get me wrong, Call of Duty will undoubtedly be huge, as it is every year and it may even grow, but if I had to call what will be a photo finish race, I will go with GTA V.”
The most recent console entry in the GTA hit stores in April 2008, and has moved over 22 million units globally to date. Call of Duty, meanwhile, has for the past three years smashed records for the biggest entertainment launch of all time.
Rockstar lifted the wraps off GTA V in November last year via a short teaser trailer, though little else has been revealed.
Stay tuned.
