Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. (SCEI) has confirmed that the PlayStation Store will return in Japanese territories on Wednesday, July 6.
The service has remained offline in the Land of the Rising Sun ever since the ‘external intrusion’ on PlayStation Network back in mid-April. Other regions including North America, Europe and selected parts of Asia have been able to access the store since early June.
Reasons for the Japanese store’s late return haven’t been explicitly detailed by Sony, though reports from various sources including Nikkei indicated that the company was required to meet security demands from credit card companies, as well as the Japanese government.
The restoration of the Japanese store on Wednesday means that the network will be fully back up and running in all territories.
