June NPD: PS3 shifts 164k

NPD hardware figures for the month of June 2009 reveal that Sony’s PlayStation 3 console has shifted just north of 164,000 units, with overall hardware revenue down 38 percent in comparison to the same period last year.

PSP sold 163,500 units, while PS2 moved 152,700 units of hardware during the same period. In comparison, Nintendo Wii lead the home console pack for another month running with just over 361,000 consoles shifted, with Xbox 360 selling 240,600 units.

As mentioned previously, hardware revenue declined from the previous year, totalling $382,620,000 USD compared to the same period in 2008, where it reached $617,250,000 USD.
