Sony Computer Entertainment America will compensate consumers who bought PlayStation Vita in North America before June 1, 2012.
Following complaints from customers, the FTC ruled that a settlement should be handed out due to the deceiving Vita U.S. marketing campaign at launch, which promised features that weren’t delivered.
The adverts wrongly claimed that Vita boasted “game changing” features including remote and cross-platform play which were not available at launch.
Sony will be contacting early adopters directly via email to offer them $25 in cash or a $50 voucher that can be spent on specified video games or services. Consumers who aren’t contacted, but are certain that their Vita was bought before June 2012, should contact Customer Service.
