Sony’s PlayStation Vita shifted 321,407 units during its launch over the weekend, according to Famitsu publisher Enterbrain.
The figure, accounting for December 17 and 18, puts the new handheld’s launch sales substantially ahead of its predecessor, the PlayStation Portable, but lower than competing platform 3DS.
More positively, Enterbrain predicts that Vita’s first week sales will total 1.4 million based on current data.
Sony was reported to have shipped approximately 700,000 units for Vita’s launch on Saturday, marking an increase from its initial supply of 500,000.
The new handheld will launch in the U.S. and Europe on February 22, 2012.
