Sony’s confirmed plans to give selected PlayStation Portable games a PlayStation 3 HD makeover, among which includes Capcom’s multi-million selling hit, Monster Hunter Portable 3rd.
It’s currently unknown at this point whether the games will see a full retail launch or will be a download-only affair.
What is known, however, is that some of the games will support both Stereoscopic 3D and Dual Shock functionality, as well as additional bonus content.
Furthermore, the re-releases will be playable on both PS3 and PSP, and save files created on either system will be transferable to the other. PSP multiplayer functions will also be accessible from PS3 via a new application that enables the portable’s ad-hoc to be installed on Sony’s flagship box.
Release dates have yet to be announced, though Sony Computer Entertainment Japan (SCEJ) has said the series will be “starting in the Japanese market.”
Aside from Monster Hunter, no other games have been confirmed for the new line-up. However, it is assumed both God of War games will be made available at some point following last week’s rumors that Chains of Olympus and Ghost of Sparta would be heading to PS3.
Stay tuned.
