Sony unveils UMD Passport for PS Vita

Sony Japan has lifted the curtains on a new PlayStation Vita feature by the name of UMD Passport, allowing PlayStation Portable user to transfer content to Sony’s new handheld.

Consumers are merely required to download a special programme for PSP, available on December 6, along with the UMD of the title you want to bring to Vita.

Afterwards, simply slap the UMD in and register the game and you’ll be able to download the title for Sony’s new pocket brick at a discount.

Among the titles already confirmed for the new program include Personal 3 and Gran Turismo, and third-party companies including Capcom, Square-Enix, Sega and Konami have already pledged their support for the feature.

PlayStation Vita will be released in Japan on December 17, with a western launch arriving in February 2012.
