At Sony’s 2011 PlayStation press event in Tokyo, SCE President and CEO Kaz Hirai just announced "PlayStation Suite," a cross-platform game network that will deliver PlayStation game content to Android-equipped tablets and smartphones.
The service is said to be a "hardware agnostic game framework" that will emulate classic PlayStation One games. It is presently unclear if it will also deliver new game experiences.
"By delivering PlayStation content over a wider array of devices, we hope to expand the world of PlayStation," said Hirai.
The service is slated to launch within the next calendar year.
