South Park: The Game delayed, Devil’s Third dropped by THQ

Action-horror title Devil’s Third has been given the chop by THQ, with the game now looking to be offloaded to a new publisher.

Speaking during an investors call this week, THQ CEO Brian Farrell said the game – the brainchild of Ninja Gaiden dev Tomonobu Itagaki – was unlikely to turn a profit, and as such no longer fits the publisher’s profile.

However, there’s still a chance that Devil’s Third may be picked up by another publisher.

Said Farrell: "When we ranked all of our product releases when we underwent our restructuring, the profitability of Devil’s Third wasn’t comparable with our other franchises.”

Elsewhere, THQ also confirmed that it has delayed the release of Obsidian’s South Park: The Game, with the action-RPG now due to launch in Q4 of FY2013 – that’s anywhere between January – March next year.

The publisher’s line-up is as follows:

-Darksiders 2; console, PC; August 2012.
-Saints Row: The Third – Enter The Dominatrix; console, PC; September 2012.
-Annual WWE Game; console, PC; Q3 FY13.
-Company of Heroes 2; PC; Q4 FY13.
-Metro: Last Light; console, PC; Q4 FY13.
-South Park: The Game; console, PC; Q4 FY13.
