According to a report on Gamereactor, Ubisoft Massive’s hotly-anticipated The Division will not be released until 2015.
Up until now, the post-apocalyptic adventure, which is part of the highly revered Tom Clancy series of video games, was on track for release this year.
However, according to a member of the development team contacted by Gamereactor recently, the title will now not make it out until next year. Furthermore, the source added that the only part of The Division which is up and running is the Snowdrop Engine that powers it — the game’s development has “barely started.”
“The fact that Ubisoft has gone public with a 2014 release date feels laughable to be perfectly honest, we will never be able to release The Division this year. It’s a large project, and we have very far to go," said the source.
Even if a ‘delay’ should be made official for The Division, Ubisoft still has two major games out this year with Watch Dogs and The Crew, with the former now due out in spring 2014 after being originally pencilled in for release last November.
The Division, for those out of the loop, takes place in a United States ravaged by a mysterious plague that cripples the once mighty nation in a mere five days. Players are thrust into a MMO battleground where they must “save what remains” of the country across frantic third-person encounters with an RPG twist.
