Arcade zombie shooters The House of the Dead 3 and The House of the Dead 4 will be hitting PlayStation Network early this year, SEGA has announced.
Both games will receive a HD makeover plus full Trophy and PlayStation Move support. House of the Dead 3 will arrive first on February 7, while its sequel will hit PSN in spring 2012.
For those unfamiliar with the franchise, the third instalment hit arcades back in 2002 and sees gamers fending off zombies and other mutant monstrosities alongside several new features including ‘rescue events’ and a Boss ‘cancel’ bar.
House of the Dead 4, meanwhile, has never been released on a home console to date, and first hit arcades in 2005. The game adheres to the classic zombie-blasting paradigm as its predecessors but also introduces hidden ‘treasure rooms’ and interactive sequences.
SEGA of America’s Senior Vice President of Digital Business, Haruki Satomi, commented, “The House of the Dead has always been one of SEGA’s most popular series, and over the years we have worked hard to bring that full arcade experience to console owners.”
“The abilities of the PlayStation 3, as well as PlayStation Move, have let us get closer than ever before. The only thing these titles are missing is a need for quarters.”
