The Walking Dead springs into life in April

Continuing its trend for releasing episodic content, Back To The Future and Jurassic Park: The Game developer, TellTale Game, is set to unleash The Walking Dead via digital download on PSN, Xbox Live, PC and iOS this April.

Based on Robert Kirkman’scomic book series, The Walking Dead is billed as an action adventure, but unlike other zombie games, such as Left4Dead, Telltale says that it will have more of a focus on characterisation as it tries to connect players emotionally to the characters.

The Walking Dead revolves around an apocalyptic crisis in which a group of survivors are left stranded in Atlanta with nothing but zombies to keep them company. The game will be divided into five monthly episodes focusing on five different survivors and will hit the PlayStation Network priced at $4.99. A season pass giving players access to all episodes will also be available for $24.99 via the Telltale Online Store.

According to the press release, players will “experience events, meet people and visit locations that foreshadow the story of Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes. The Walking Dead offers a tailored game experience – player actions, choices and decisions affect how the story plays out across the entire series.”

Telltale has also launched the “Playing Dead” series, a set of videos in which it talks about the game in more depth and showcases some of the gameplay footage. Episode 3 of “Playing Dead” has just launched on the official The Walking Dead site.
