Uncharted 3 beta kicks off July 5, Naughty Dog unleashes new screens and trailer

The worldwide Uncharted 3 multiplayer beta will begin on July 5, 2011, Naughty Dog today announced on the PlayStation Blog.

"Our goal has always been to take the signature Uncharted gameplay and our penchant for awesome set-piece moments to serve as the key building blocks for creating a multiplayer experience like no other," wrote Arne Meyer, community manager at Naughty Dog. "We dipped our toe in with Uncharted 2. Now, with Uncharted 3, we’re diving in headfirst."

How do you like them apples?

Meyer detailed a host of new features set to debut in Uncharted 3, including a brand-new sprint button, a free-for-all mode, and "Three Team Deathmatch," a two vs. two vs. two variation on team deathmatch. In-depth character and weapon customization are also included.

Gamers who subscribe to PlayStation Plus will get access to the beta a week early, as will inFamous 2 owners. So, technically, the beta begins on June 28, but it will open up to all PlayStation Network users on July 5.
