E3 2012: PES 2013 features new online ranking system, ‘total freedom’ gameplay

The race for football (American soccer) supremacy may tighten with Pro Evolution Soccer 2013 delivering “total freedom” to play and style of ball and total control over the placement and style of shots. The game will attempt to mimic the best players in soccer, how they run, move both on and off the ball, and their skills. PES will feature 50 of the greatest players in vivid real-to-life representation within the game.

"Soccer is all about how the player interacts with the ball, from the first touch, to dribbling, passing and all of the moves associated with playing," says Tomoyuki Tsuboi, President of Konami Digital Entertainment, Inc. "What PES 2013 is giving players is complete control to impact their game how they’d like, including all of those key elements I just referred to. Recreating that experience of an authentic soccer game and giving that freedom back to the players is paramount in the development of PES 2013."

The game will feature FullControl, Player ID, and ProActive AI. Look for total freedom of movement, an all new dynamic first touch where players can choose how to receive or move on the ball. You’ll use the trigger buttons to give access to a number of ball control styles. Each game will ebb and flow like a real football/soccer match running alongside the new AI routines that ensure more balanced matches.

Look for a new online ranking system called Rival Ranking, which sources players at a similar level. You’ll be split into 240 cities across the globe. Leagues can be created and messages and challenges sent. You can also sync games to Facebook again this year.

PES 2013 is slated for release in fall 2012 on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, PS2, PSP, Nintendo 3Ds, and Wii. Check out more new screens here.
