E3 2012 Awards: Best PSN Game

Some of the best games on PlayStation Network are the ones that require co-op play and team work. When Viking’s Attack stood up for those two reasons, as well as the fact that it will feature cross-platform play and a one-off purchase for both PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita titles.

When Viking’s Attack requires players to work together to rid modern-day Britain of Viking invaders. It’s quirky and it’s funny, with many of the locations having a distinct British flavour, but underneath its flippant cartoon exterior, is an enjoyable and fairly hectic arcade brawler that requires some serious concentration if you hope to come out on top.

Gameplay takes place from a top-down isometric view and involves up to four groups (four player online co-op) of citizens who have to use any objects at their disposal to toss and destroy the invading Vikings. You can pick up anything from a car to a post box and the object of the game is to destroy the Viking group. They too attack the citizens and with every direct hit your group gets smaller, meaning you can only pick up smaller objects.

If it launches at the right price point on PSN, When Viking’s Attack could be an essential purchase for those seeking an enjoyable co-op cross-platform arcade game for PS3 and Vita.
