UPDATE: Several months ago, ArenaNet announced that console versions of Guild Wars 2 were in the early development stages. Therefore, consider Bauser’s profile confirmation that a PS3 version is coming, and will be shown at Gamescom 2012.
Original Story: Earlier today, we reported that a LinkedIn profile for one Gerald Bauser might confirm Grand Theft Auto V’s upcoming presence at Gamescom 2012. Upon further examination, an interesting bit of news can be drawn for PS3 owners – Guild Wars 2, the much-hyped MMO sequel from developer ArenaNet, could come to consoles.
As project manager for Gamescom programming, Bauser’s resume lists game titles that he is currently supervising for a presence at this year’s show. Among the titles listed is "Arenanet – Guild Wars® 3." While we expect that the "3" in the game’s title is a typo, what comes after the name is more interesting. The game’s platforms are listed as "PC, 360, PS3."
We’ve no reason to suspect foul play in Bauser’s profile – his resume lists nearly 13 years of experience working with both E3 and Gamescom since May 1999. It makes sense that Guild Wars 2 would appear at Gamescom (a late-summer/holiday release is expected for the oft-delayed game), and if this information holds true, PS3 gamers could be reveling in a major announcement that will send the triple-A blockbuster MMO to our favorite home console.
Stay tuned to PSU for more on this breaking news as we hear more, and let us know in the comments if you’d buy Guild Wars 2 for PS3.
