Sony could win over Xbox One fans by pricing PS4 lower than $499

At its E3 press conference, Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One will retail at £429 ($499) and launch in November, but if Sony can under-cut that price by £50 ($50) plus at its press conference later today it could win over some new fans.

Microsoft did well to claw back some of its credibilit during a games-focused conference where the Xbox One can was showcased as a gaming machine rather than just an entertainment device. It’s now up to Sony to match that, but it’s the games that Sony has always put first so we’ve no doubt we’ll see some great exclusives on show.

Furthermore, Sony has the chance to under-cut its rivals and tempt those who just don’t have the cash to shell out £400+ another option. Rumour has it that Sony may be about to do just that, with reports suggesting a figure below £400 and closer to £300 in the U.K. That would make it much cheaper than the PS3 at launch (£425) though PS4’s would surely fly off the shelves at that price?
