Lord of the Rings star Dominic Monaghan has revealed he’s looking forward to the next chapter in the Uncharted franchise.
Monaghan, who portrayed the Hobbit Meriadoc Brandybuck in Peter Jackson’s fantasy trilogy, can be seen in The Bureau: XCOM Declassified live-action series, and is something of a gaming aficionado.
Asked during a recent conference call (via GameSpot) about the games industry, he replied, “I’ll always stay focused on the gaming world and see what’s coming up.
“The new Uncharted, I’m really excited to see how that’s goin to be, and obviously both new gaming systems.”
Monaghan’s comments are ambiguous in the sense we don’t know if he’s merely expressing his anticipation for the new Uncharted like the rest of us, or actually knows of its existence or has seen it in action.
Naughty Dog is heavily rumored to be working on a new Uncharted title for PlayStation 4, though nothing official has ever materialized. The studio has recently wrapped on The Last of Us for PS3.
The most recent console entry in the Uncharted franchise, Drake’s Deception, was released in November 2011 for PS3.
Elsewhere, Monaghan revealed he’s hoping to pitch a video game idea to 2K, though didn’t divulge any further information.
